New Zealand

New Zealand

New Zealand… I loved every minute of this place. My husband and I traveled with two close friends from our church to the South Island of New Zealand. We rented a car and did as much as we could in 12 days.
We stayed in YHA hostels the whole time. It was cheap and easy…and most of the time it was pretty awesome.

We hiked for 5 hours. At the start of our hike it was cloudy and lightly sprinkling. By the end it was fully raining and we were all soaking wet. Our hiking boots were full of water and heavy like bricks. The small creeks of water were now rushing rivers and you hoped that you wouldn’t fall in and be swept away. We did make it, and we where pretty chuffed with ourselves and what we accomplished. I would recommend doing this hike, but not in the rain haha

Wanaka – This place was stunning! We enjoyed looking around the town, doing a bit of op-shopping and some day hikes.Travel-62Travel-63Travel-64Travel-65Travel-66Travel-67Travel-68Travel-69Travel-70Travel-71Travel-72Travel-73Travel-74Travel-75Travel-76Travel-77Travel-78Travel-79
Queenstown–  This was one of my favourite stops. Queenstown has a lot to offer.  We dropped in on the Ferg Baker a few times and also lined up for an hour to get our Ferg Burger. We did an afternoon hike up Queenstown Hill. We also hiked up Ben Lomond which was my HIGHLIGHT.  That mountain is stunning, a bit of a challenge to hike up… but worth it. We also stayed in the best hostel here…it was amazing!

My husband is a school teacher and his class two years ago gave him a generous Red Balloon gift. We spent that gift going over Mt Cook in a helicopter 🙂 This was his highlight!
